Metallic Grey and Oak Galley Kitchen in Walthamstow

At Urban Myth, we believe that a kitchen should be more than just functional it should reflect the personality and lifestyle of the people who use it. This recently completed galley kitchen is a striking example of bold design combined with practical planning, resulting in a space that is as dramatic as it is efficient.

From the outset, the client was keen to embrace texture, depth, and contrast. The design centres around rich Oak grain wall cabinets that bring a natural, tactile element to the room. These are beautifully complemented by a Quartz worktop in Woodlands, which adds a grounding, organic feel and enhances the kitchen's sense of warmth and character.

To introduce light and visual interest, a strip of bronze mirror has been seamlessly integrated around the room. This clever detail not only reflects light and creates a sense of space, but it also adds an elegant, slightly unexpected twist that elevates the entire design.

Despite its compact footprint, the kitchen is impressively functional. A considered layout and intelligent cabinetry choices ensure there is a place for everything - and more. Deep pan drawers make everyday cooking essentials easy to reach, while a discreet pocket door cabinet offers a hidden workspace or storage nook that can be tucked away when not in use. Full-height cabinets and well-placed wall units maximise storage without compromising the flow or aesthetics of the room.

This kitchen is a perfect example of how a galley layout, when carefully designed, can be both practical and inspiring. It’s a space that feels confident and contemporary, where bold materials and thoughtful details work in harmony to create a room that is as enjoyable to live in as it is to look at.
