A day in the life
At Urban Myth we are design and service led, priding ourselves on the fact that the products and process we deliver makes your life, as a developer, easier. It is always a team effort, and an integral part of that team is the project manager...
Our experienced project managers are involved in all aspects of your development ensuring that every step runs as smoothly as possible.
Each development is assigned a dedicated project manager and here we follow Clark on a typical day on site:
6am: It is always an early start and our Project Managers are used to that. Today Clark has a site meeting with his team of fitters at Greenford in Wembley where he will brief them on the jobs that need to be achieved in that day, so they all know what is expected.
7am: Walkthrough the site checking the work from the previous day and making sure that everything has been finished satisfactorily. Clark will also check that the plots we are scheduled to fit are prepared and ready for delivery of our kitchens. With over 270 plots on this project this is an essential process.
9am: On site meeting with the development site manager to go through the technical drawings for the next block. Here we can be advised of any changes to the previous plans and relay this information back to the technical team at the office. Key points for discussion will also include logistics and progress of the works to date. Clark will then carry out a full site inspection to highlight any Health and Safety issues and gather information for the site-specific RAMs. He will also check measure the plots to ensure the layouts match the kitchens on order.
11am: Clark will be responsible for more than one development, depending on their size, so now he is on the road to City North in Finsbury Park which is almost complete.
12pm: Clark has a meeting with the site manager at City North to debrief on the completed works. As part of our service, we will commission the appliances we supply and ensure they are all in working order. This report is handed over to the site manager with all the relevant serial numbers so that any issues can be dealt with swiftly by the aftercare team.
3pm: Clark returns to the head office. He will prepare a report for the contracts Installations Director on the status of each development so that the whole team are aware of any changes that might need to be made to our schedule. Health and safety is vitally important on construction sites and Clark will regularly hold “Toolbox talks” with the team, Clark prepares topics for discussion in the office on subjects such as “Manual Handling” and “Personal Protective Equipment” to make sure the wellbeing of all our staff is being supported on site.
4.30pm: Before Clark heads home he will plan the site visits for the next day and a meeting on site at a new project not yet off the ground.
